Clear PET vs. Frosted PP: Which Boba Cup Is Right for Your Shop?

June 17, 2026 · Customized Boba Cups

Nearly every shop we work with chooses between two cups: crystal-clear PET and frosted PP. Both print beautifully and both seal on a standard machine — but they send different signals and suit different menus.

Clear PET: show off the drink

PET is optically clear and rigid. It’s the classic iced-boba cup because it puts the drink on display — layers, gradients, and brown-sugar streaks all read through the wall. If your drinks are visually striking and your brand leans bright and social, clear PET is usually the pick. It’s cold-drink focused.

Frosted PP: premium and versatile

PP has a soft, frosted matte finish that reads more boutique. It also tolerates hot drinks, so one cup family can cover an iced and a hot menu. If you want a slightly elevated feel, or you sell hot matcha and lattes alongside cold boba, frosted PP earns its slightly higher cost.

A quick comparison

Clarity: PET wins for showing the drink. Feel: PP feels more premium. Temperature: PP handles hot and cold; PET is cold-focused. Cost: PET is typically a little cheaper per cup. Printing: both take a full-color wrap; matte PP resists glare under shop lights.

Key takeaway

Choose clear PET to showcase colorful cold drinks at the best price; choose frosted PP for a premium feel and hot-plus-cold versatility. Not sure? We’ll mock up both, free.
